Welfare Improvement through Nudging Knowledge ‘Nudging and Beyond’ conference
After the first successful WINK conference in 2017, the Welfare Improvement through Nudging Knowledge (WINK) consortium will organize a second conference June 19-20, 2019.
Similar to the first conference, this conference will highlight innovative and multidisciplinary nudge research and encourage the exchange of exciting ideas and findings between researchers, professionals, and policy makers in an international setting. However, we also feel that it is now time to move beyond studies demonstrating the ‘mere’ effectiveness of nudges in a variety of settings and address important topics relating to the urgent question of when, how, and for whom nudges work and are a preferable instrument compared to other interventions aimed at improving decisions. The conference will highlight innovative perspectives by offering the floor to studies and experiments that focus on nudging in challenging contexts, for example by targeting underprivileged samples. The conference will also showcase nudging research that addresses complex issues such as inequality, poverty, and solidarity in important societal challenges including the energy transition, the protein transition, lifestyle interventions and many more. We explicitly invite contributions from a variety of disciplines, including psychology, ethics, economics, law, public administration, and communication science.
The conference will give the floor to several distinguished and world class keynote speakers, including:
Barbara Prainsack, Professor of Comparative Policy Analysis at the University of Vienna and King’s College London, and author of Personalized Medicine: Empowered Patients in the 21stCentury (2017).

Venue: Boothstraat (Utrecht city center)
